Calculate a Nectar Batch

Enter an amount and calculate.

Why the Calculator Divides by Five

The finished batch is five parts total: one part sugar plus four parts water. That means sugar is one-fifth of the total amount and water is four-fifths.

For very small feeders, round to practical kitchen measurements and avoid making more than you can use while it is fresh.

How To Use The Nectar Calculator Wisely

The calculator is most helpful when you choose the amount you can use within a safe freshness window. A large batch may seem convenient, but warm weather can make extra nectar wasteful. Mix only what your feeder traffic and cleaning schedule can support.

For the best results, combine the tool result with direct observation. Watch how quickly nectar drops, whether flowers are blooming nearby, how often birds perch before feeding, and whether weather changes alter activity. Small notes from your own yard can make the recommendation more accurate over time.
